Joint Development Agreement with Star RFID
13 November 2018
Haydale (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce the signing of a Joint Development Agreement ("JDA") between Haydale Technologies (Thailand) Co., Limited ("HTT") and Star RFID Co., Ltd ("Star"). The JDA is for the parties to quickly co-develop both graphene and silver-based inks for the printed Radio Frequency Identification market ("RFID"). The co-development is expected to lead to a supply and collaboration agreement in the coming months.
The parties have already commenced development of a dedicated silver ink for Star and have a small paid-for project to carry out this work. Star has first right of refusal for any products arising from the JDA.
David Banks Executive Chairman at Haydale, commented: "Since HTT, our Thai facility, officially opened in March 2017, we have secured a number of paid-for projects that have developed into longer term and closer working relationships with some of Thailand's high profile companies. Star RFID is no exception and we look forward to further developments in 2019."
Apiwat Thongprasert, Managing Director at Star, added: "We are really excited to work with Haydale and use their speciality graphene and silver inks. We see a strong commercial arrangement as key to sales success together with a highly consistent product. Something we already know that Haydale can provide."

About RFID
RFID uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags contain electronically stored information. Passive tags collect energy from a nearby RFID reader's interrogating radio waves. RFID requirements are for a consistent electrically conductive ink to perform to high standards of accuracy and repeatability.
Research specialists IDTechEx estimated that in 2018, the total RFID market will be worth $11.0 Billion, rising to $13.4 Billion in 2022. This $11bn market includes tags, readers and software/services for RFID labels, cards, fobs and all other form factors, for both passive and active RFID. https://www.idtechex.com/research/reports/rfid-forecasts-players-and-opportunities-2018-2028-000642.asp
